Common questions
How do I set up a test?
Prop your iPhone beside the bed so the camera can see your head, shoulders, and hips, and plug it in — a Nap Test runs up to 90 minutes. Keep the room lit, turn on Do Not Disturb, and keep your neck and shoulders uncovered. Each test starts with a 30-second calibration: lie on your back, then each side, and hold each pose while the voice prompts tell you which way to face.
What is the difference between the Fit Check and the Nap Test?
The Pillow Fit Check is done awake, one position at a time, and takes a few minutes. It draws a five-part spine line and grades your chin position, then gives one next step for the pillow. The Nap Test runs for 30, 60, or 90 minutes while you really nap. Its report shows your posture timeline, turn count, neck position in each posture, and snoring minutes, followed by a short morning check-in.
Do I need to watch the screen during a test?
No. Everything that happens while a test is running is also spoken: calibration guidance, the confirmation when measuring starts, a notice when the app can't see you, and a confirmation when it finds you again. Listen for the voice and keep your eyes closed. Reports and the morning check-in are on screen, for when you are awake.
Why does my report say Unknown, or "not enough data"?
The app can only measure what the camera can see. Unknown time usually means the light was too low, part of you left the frame, or bedding, an arm, or the pillow hid the landmarks it reads — a very soft pillow can hide an ear, which is one of the landmarks used to tell which way you face. Check the setup checklist, keep your head, hips, and knees in view, and hold calibration poses for the full time.
Does PoseNap record video or audio of my sleep?
Video, never: camera frames are read and discarded, and nothing visual is saved or uploaded. Sound is classified on your iPhone during Nap Tests; the app keeps short sound clips (such as snoring segments) on the device so you can play them back from the report. Clips are deleted together with their test record. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I delete a test?
In History, swipe a test to the left and tap Delete, then confirm. Deleting a Nap Test also removes its replay data and sound clips. To remove everything at once, use Settings > Delete all data. Deleting records in the app does not remove copies in your device backups or files you exported earlier.
Can I compare two pillows?
Yes. Give each pillow a name when you test, then run the same test on each one. History keeps every report, and the comparison view lines up posture shares, neck readings, and snoring for the pillows you have tested — use the same test length and a similar phone placement for a fair comparison.
Does PoseNap need an account or an internet connection?
No account, and no connection. PoseNap has no servers: measurement, reports, History, and replay all work offline, on your iPhone. You only need the internet to open this website, send support email, or share a file you exported.
Is PoseNap a medical device?
No. PoseNap offers pillow and comfort suggestions for personal self-experiments. It does not diagnose sleep apnea or any other condition, and its measurements have not been clinically validated. If you snore heavily, gasp during sleep, or often wake unrefreshed, talk to a doctor — the app may suggest the same in a report, and that suggestion is not a diagnosis.
